Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. I'm hanging with all my fingers and toes. It's kind of working, but not hard or fast enough. Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. I'm hanging with all my fingers and toes. It is happening, but nearly hard or fast enough. On one level, I'm the definition of insanity... doing the same thing (trying to make money woodworking) and hoping for a different result... but on the other hand, I started to see a movement towards hand made heirloom quality furnishing and accessories maybe fifteen to twenty years ago. The economy sucks and no matter how low I price stuff it doesn't sell. There is a market for studio furniture but is is a very small one. I haven't found a way to expose myself to those people... I guess?

It has always been hard for me to accept praise... especially when I know that I'm constrained by not having on of the essential tools for running and growing a business... working capital. I dream of building the stuff that I know I am capable of. Dream on. I always get itchy about this time of year, because in the past I was involved building custom houses and remodels. This is the start of the building season and I should be outside, pouring concrete and standing up walls... so that later in the year, I'm doing what I do best... finish carpentry and cabs. Front page of the Oregonian last week... Housing prices hit new low!

Stay tuned, I came across a big pile of my favorite kind of wood... FREE! I'm not sure what species it is, but it is a rich red brown color and very dense and hard. I hope to pull off something a little different that what I have been doing.

Hang in there, man ... You do great work. I hope 2011 turns out a lot better for you than 2010. People are getting burned out on technology, and are starting to hunger for hand-made things, and do things by hand. What you're doing is valuable, and I think more and more people are realizing it.
